No Boundaries "Second Step" 5 Mile Running Program - Spring 2015

Take the next step in your training with the Fleet Feet Sports No Boundaries Second Step 5 Mile Training Program. Learn to run or run/walk farther and faster as you master the 5 mile distance. This 10-week program is designed for someone new to the 5 mile distance and/or looking for a little more intensity. Training will start at 2 miles and build up to the 5 mile distance.

Along the way we provide you with motivation, guidance and advice, weekly group training runs, and educational clinics on topics such as proper nutrition, choosing the right gear, and avoiding injury. There will be pace groups for every level of runner so, you won't be running alone.


PROGRAM AVAILABILITY  |  GOAL EVENT Our 5 Mile training program will begin on March 10, 2015 and run for 10 weeks ending with participants running the HoHa 5 Mile event on Sunday, May 10 at 10am. You may choose to do a different race in or around the same time frame, and the coaches will work with you to alter your training schedule.

  • Training Months:  March 10, 2015 through May 10, 2015
  • Goal Event: HoHa 5 Mile in Hoboken, NJ - race registration is not included in program registration however you will receive a discounted registration rate
  • First Training Run: Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at 7pm
  • Kickoff Meeting/Information Session: Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at 7pm - scroll down for further details

WORKOUT TIMES  |  LOCATIONS  There will be one training session per week and seminars periodically throughout the program.

  • Tuesdays at 7pm, meeting at Fleet Feet Hoboken

Please wear visible gear (light colors, reflective vests/bands, or blinking lights) during weeknight runs when we do not have daylight.

TRAINING GROUPS  On the first day of practice, coaches will help determine what pace group best suits your fitness level with an easy, basic assessment of your starting point fitness level.

  • Run/Walk Group 
  • Run Group - continuous running

SUGGESTED ACTIVITY LEVEL PRIOR TO START OF TRAINING All participants should be able to run or run/walk 2 miles comfortably.

REGISTRATION  Registration will close approximately one week after the first training or when maximum capacity of 50 participants has been reached. All returning alumni from any Fleet Feet Hoboken training program receive a $10 Fleet Feet Hoboken gift card.

  • COST: Early registration discount: $110 (register before 2/17/15) - program registration fee does not include race entry fee
  • NOTE: Price increases to $125 on 2/18/15
  • NO REFUNDS after the second week of training. There are no exchanges or transfers at any time.

KICKOFF FOR REGISTERED PARTICIPANTS AND INFORMATION SESSION The Training Program will kick-off with an informational meeting on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at 7pm at Fleet Feet Hoboken (604 Washington Street). We will review specific training information and get you pumped for an incredible journey. This meeting is open to everyone - registered participants AND those interested in signing up for the program.
